Even the medium/neutral level won’t look good on you. On this color dimension, you will need the most extreme version of a color. Based on three color dimensions, your primary aspect will be one of the following six: That means your coloring will sit at one of the extreme ends of that color dimension. One of the three aspects will turn out to be your primary color aspect - the most important factor of your coloring. We need to find the setting of your natural coloring on each color dimension - these are your three color aspects. The question here is: do you suit highly saturated colors or greyed-out ones? The answer will depend on how high the natural grey content of your coloring is. The more grey is added to a pure color, the more muted it becomes. If you are desaturated, you might want a shade that’s the correct undertone but too dark so you can use white to lighten and tone down the saturation. The chroma scale depicts how bright/saturated/clear or muted/soft a color is. If you are cool leaning, you’ll have the most luck finding a perfect match by using green to adjust a shade that’s too pink. If you are warm leaning, you’ll have the most luck finding a perfect match by using blue to adjust a shade that’s too warm. If a foundation looks too gray or neutral, I can use yellow to warm it up or another foundation that’s too warm (this is the trickiest adjustment to make in my experience and yellow probably wont help you if you lean cool)Īs a warm desaturated olive, my favorite ways to color match are to find the right undertone in a darker shade and lighten with white OR the right depth but too warm and cool down with blue. If a foundation is too dark and saturated, I mix in white which lightens but also tones down the saturation If a foundation looks too pink, I use green (or blue & yellow which makes green but allows you to customize the temp of the green) If a foundation looks too orange, I use blue.
